Our Faith

Article Pic We believe that the Bible is The inspired Word of God, that definitely explains who God is and the salvation He offers, and is the eternal plumb line for all theology and experience. The study of its teachings must be given priority in daily life and in corporate gatherings (2 Tim 3:14-17).

The Holy Spirit continues to speak to and guide believers today, yet always in agreement with His voice as definitively articulated in Holy Scripture. No further "revelation" pertaining to the person of God or the salvation offered through faith in Christ is to be added to what is declared through the Scripture. Insight into the effective application and practice of the principles of Scripture are given by the Spirit to the church in our day, along with emphasis on certain parts of Scripture that are timely for current situation. The Spirit affirms in each believer God's fatherly love for them and provides daily guidance for those who seek it.

We believe that the early church as portrayed in the New Testament, is not only a historical description of the first church, but a continuing prescription for normative church life, taking into consideration the historical and cultural context in which the events and teachings of the New Testament occurred.

GCC affirms the historical creeds of the Christian church, valuing our christian heritage even as we respond to God's purpose in our time. These essential doctrines are the basis of our unity with other Christians.

The Apostle's Creed

We believe in God the Father Almighty, and in Christ Jesus, his only Son, our Lord, who was born of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary; Who was crucified under Pontius Pilate and was buried and the third day rose from the dead; who ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. We believe in the Holy Spirit, one holy Christian church, the fellowship of the saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting.

The Nicean Creed

We believe in one God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible;

And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, begotten of his Father before all worlds, God of God, Light of Light, of every God, begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father; by whom all things were made; who for us and for our salvation came down from heaven, and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the Virgin Mary, and was made human; and was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate; he suffered and was buried; and the third day he rose again according to the Scriptures, and ascended into heaven, and sits on the right hand of the Father; and he shall come again, in glory, to judge both the quick and the dead; whose kingdom shall have no end.

And we believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord and Giver of Life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son; who with the Father and the Son together is worshiped and glorified; who spoke by the Prophets.

And we believe in one holy Christian and apostolic Church; we acknowledge baptism for the remission of sins; and we look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the kingdom to come. AMEN.
