Weddings at The Garden - Marriage Ministry

Our concern, is to foster lasting marital unions. God has established and sanctified marriage, having created marriage for one man and one woman for life. We believe that is is our responsibility to encourage couples to set aside time for marriage preparation instead of concentrating solely on the wedding plans. In order to establish and nurture healthy marriages, we will endeavor to effectively prepare and support those who come to us seeking to be married. Therefore, we will require every engaged couple to participate in the following elements for those wishing to be married by a pastor at the Garden Community Church:Pre-Marital Group - a 6 week class offered 3 times a year. This is a 6-week study focusing on the Loving on Purpose teachings by Danny and Sheri Silk.3 Additional Pre-Marital meeting with the Pastor performing your ceremony or other qualified counselor. Each couple is encouraged to regularly attend and participate in church during the process of preparation for marriage.

Please contact the Directors of Marriage Ministries, Paul and Kristen Stubblefield, if you have any questions or would like to schedule Pre-Marital Group.Dates for Pre-Marital Classes:October 4th , 11th, 18, 25th, Nov 1st and 8th (2009)

Jan 3rd , 10th, 17th, 24th 31st and Feb 7th (2010)

It is Double Edged's mission to communicate the Biblical view that marriage is ordained by God and that when we marry, we wnter into a binding covenant with each other-with God at the very center of that agreement. It is our desire to effectively demonstrate through conferences, one-on-one counseling for marriages in crisis, and small group gatherings what the Lord has conveyed to us regarding His heart concerning the spiritual, emotional and sexual aspects of the most significat human relationship on Earth.
It is our vision to see Garden Community Church and beyond experience God's unique and abundant design for marriage!

Marriage Is God's Idea

Marriage Is God's By Design

Marriage Is Designed to Work!

What is Garden Community Church Sozo Ministry?

Sozo is a Greek word meaning, "saved, healed and delivered."

The Sozo ministry is a unique and gentle approach to healing. Team members rely on the Godhead (Father God, Jesus and Holy Spirit) to direct the process. Sozo brings light and truth to the soul, establishes your identity in Christ, and opens the path for God's heart to be revealed in relationship with you.

The Sozo session lasts approximately 1 ½ to 3 hours. The journey of walking in the truth of your experience and understanding is a life-long process. You will be given take-away tools to help nurture and protect the healing process. Team members minister with honor and respect.

Volunteers are always needed to pack grocery bags, deliver groceries and to hand them out.

Mexico Missions - Mexico

S.O.S.
(sower of seed)
A Ministry of Helps to Local Mexican Churches and Ministries
• Helping to build the Kingdom of God in Mexico through....
• Training and Equipping Mexican Leaders
• Building relationships between Mexican and American Churches
• Supporting Local Mexican Churches and Ministries

The mission...
We help those born again believers whom God has placed in our path-both Mexican believers who need support and encouragement in their ministries and American churches who are wanting to aid and assist God's work in Mexico. We love to help small church groups in Mexico who have no means to help themselves with the big visions inspired by God to reach their fellowman. Part of our job is to help unite Amercians with Mexican nationals to accomplish this Godly vision and desire to fulfill the great commission, "to go and teach and make disciples of all nations."

The challenge...
Ninety percent of the pioneer missionaries whom God is using today are citizens of foreign countries. Of them, less than 10% are Americans and Canadians.

Until now, about 90% of God's money has been used to send out these 10%. Less than 10% of all gifts given for missions has been available to the 90% based in other countries. So God has raised us up to help educate His people in the U.S. about national churches and mission groups in poorer countries.

When Americans go as missionaries to poorer countries, they seem wealthy. Often, they cannot represent our Lord, "who though He was rich, yet for our sakes became poor," as easily as a national would be able to. Even Americans on welfare are fabulously rich in comparison to many people in other nations.

Many Mexican families survive on less than $200.00 a month and what they can grow or trade. The poverty is unbelievable to most Americans but it is a way of life for many Mexican people. In the midst of the poverty, God is worshipped and sought after. A national pastor can relate to and understand the culture and local customs better than a foreign missionary.

The strategy...
1. Training
We are training individuals through Bible college to be national pastors. We are in the planning stages of a Bible college in the Mexicali valley, Ejido Jalapa, to equip larger numbers to do God's work.

2. Churches
Lands have been and are being purchased and churches built on these properties. Many Americans have come to answer God's call to provide for this physical need for a place to worship

3. Teaching Materials
Sunday School material of all types are put in the hands of national pastors and their teachers.

Thousands of Spanish Bibles have been placed in the hands of those who would have no way to buy one.

4. Hosting ministry groups from the U.S.
We try to place ministry groups where they can be most effective with the giftings God has equipped them with. Full days of practical service and spiritual ministry are scheduled so that they can utilize their giftings, time, and finances to their full potential.

5. Providing Medical Care
Most national groups believe that God can heal the sick by his supernatural power. They also believe that God uses trained physicians as He used Dr. Luke in the New Testament times.
Missionary doctors and dentist come willing to help the needy. In order for the care we provide to flow smoothly, we are working with local health clinics and officials.
Of course, we also pray for the sick.

6. Providing for the Needy
We take tons of clothing, blankets and coats for distribution by the local missionaries and pastors.

We have annual rice, beans and powdered milk fund raisers to buy these commodities and place them with local missionaries or pastors for distribution during the winter months when work is scarce.
Need more info? Contact the Luther Atwell the Mission Pastor/Project Coordinator by either email or he can be reached at the church office at 323-4162 Ext. 23.

E3 Performing Arts provides a creative alternative to traditional day care. Students discover and develop their unique purpose and creativity as they engage in a broad spectrum of the arts, academic enrichment, physical activities, and character education in after-school and day camp programs. E3’s classes give students in grades K-6 rich exposure to diverse art forms, including drama, tap dance, ballet, jazz dance, vocal and instrumental music, visual arts, and gymnastics. The program’s comprehensive offerings also provide abundant support for students to improve their academic skills and physical fitness. E3’s broad dimensions of learning extend to character education as caring instructors both model and employ “teachable moments” to nurture life-building character traits, such as kindness, self-control, and teamwork. E3’s after-school program, along with summer, winter, and spring camps, enable busy families to conveniently maximize opportunities for lifelong learning.

Our Approach - What We Believe

A dual Emphasis on Word and Spirit. We are committed both to living by God's Word and living in His Spirit. We attempt to balance the unchanging message of Scripture with the spontaneous manifestations of the presence and power of the Holy Spirit. This ministry of Jesus and his followers in the New Testament combined "word and deed." Because we believe this witness of Scripture, we seek in our day an increased revelation of God's authority and grace through Signs and Wonders so that the sick are healed, those gripped by demonic bondage are set free, and the proclamation of good news is accompanied by demonstrations of God's power. As in the beginning in Eden, God creates all things through the combined power of His Word and His Spirit (Gen. 1-2).

Unity in Diversity. Diversity comes together in unity at the cross of Jesus. Walls of division, hatred, fear, racism and sexism are broken down. We are committed to be a community of reconciliation, bringing together people of all ages:

•from different ethnic, social, economic and education backgrounds
•from different streams of Christian faith
•and with diverse spiritual gifts
To worship God together, love each other and serve Christ with teamwork emphasis without distinction to gender.

A Multi-Generational Church where each Generation Serves the Other. The ministry to young people and children, those most at risk in our society, is given a high priority in our church. In the many nontraditional approaches we take, our purpose is to effectively appeal to young people. This gives the mature in our church a special call and purpose from God: to transform the lives of a fatherless generation by becoming fathers and mothers, mentors and friends, representing the Father's love. We desire to nurture children and young people who know Jesus' love for them, growing together as a community of friends, and are committed to impact their world with God's love and power. In turn, we express honor and respect for those older than ourselves, and seek to utilize our gifts and abilities to bless them. At the Garden, the Lord "will restore the hearts of the fathers to their children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers" (Malachi 4:6)

The Redemption of the Arts for worship and evangelism. It is our desire to recapture creativity for the kingdom of God. In our worship and life together as a community, and in sharing our hope and faith with others, we believe that music, drama, dance, creative writing, film making and all aspects of art are an important way we express our hearts and the message of the gospel. When we dedicate our God-given talents to God's glory, continually developing our ideas and abilities, God transforms human creativity into divine activity. Arts and artists for so long alienated from the Church and captured by Satan, are being redeemed for a central role in the Kingdom of God. At the Garden of the Lord there is dancing, shouts of joy, and new songs and sounds of worship (Isaiah 51:3, Jeremiah 31:12-14, Psalm 149).

Relaxed Excellence. A heart and mindset of excellence, in a relaxed presentation. We do our best to plan well, communicate clearly and accomplish all things in service to Christ with an aim toward excellence. There is no substitute for disciplined planning and hard work that results in a sustained and effective implementation of God-given ideas. Yet for many, traditional formalities have been a barrier to accepting the gospel and growing in Christ. Therefore, we choose a "relaxed presentation": of ourselves even while pursuing excellence. We downplay titles altogether and seek to exercise any authority with gentleness. We stress our humanity even while confident of "who we are in Christ." We reduce a focus on formal or informal dress, allowing people to wear (within the limits of modesty) that which enables them best to focus on God, and work and worship with excellence. Finally, we try to approach faith and theology using everyday language and in a non-religious manner. The Garden is a place of peace and rest. (Matt 11:28-30)

Giving with Joy: Obedience without Manipulation. All support is received through an offering box as members listen to God and obey Him faithfully giving their tithes (the first 10% of your income) and freewill offerings (giving above your tithe to specific ministry areas or outreaches). Believing that "what God ordains, He supports," we have been led to never take up an offering for our operational expenses or make a pressurized plea for money to support the church. GCC has never lacked for anything needed and only spends according to available assets. The seeds sown in the Garden with joy will return a bountiful harvest of blessing (Matt 6:33, Deuteronomy 15:4-6, Malachi 3:8-12, Luke 6:38).

Prayer and the Prophetic Voice. We seek to be a people of prayer and a nurturing home to emerging prophetic ministries. This local church believes it is called to be "a house of prayer for all nations" (Isaiah 56:7). Learning to listen to God and sharing what we hear is also a special emphasis of our life together, and for which we provide pastoral support and accountability. The Garden is a place of prayer, intercession and the revelation of the Father's will (Mark 14:32-36).

A House of Healing. Healing is a sign of the presence of the Kingdom, and a promise, in part, of the complete wholeness yet to come. We are committed to grow in effectiveness in praying for the sick to be healed and those in bondage to be set free. We value the ministries which help believers experience an increasing freedom from false concepts, negative feelings or spiritual bondage that can hinder us from fully experiencing our inheritance as children of God. The Garden restored has healing trees (Rev 22:2).

Renewal and Revival. We commit ourselves with Biblical balance to seek and respond to the movement of the Spirit in our time. God desires to increase both the manifestation of His presence and His power to the world through a revitalized Church. No matter the manner God chooses to initiate renewal, or the varied ways individuals respond to God's presence, we believe the fruit of Biblical renewal will result in the central purpose of the Church (knowing Jesus and bringing Him glory through evangelism, love, service, unity, holiness and maturity) being fulfilled in increasing measure. The Beloved longs to dwell in his Garden (Song of Solomon 4:15-16).

Sunday Morning Service
Babies are important people at GCC. The GCC Garden Nursery provides a safe, clean, spirtually stimulating environment that allows our little ones (6 - 23 months) to interact with other children, explore new experiences, expect the familiar, and grow in the foundation of God's boundless love for them.

We strive to be more than just a place to drop off your children, but rather a home away from home that your children look forward to visiting, feeling safe during their stay. With Matthew 18:5 as our mandate, we gladly receive your little ones as an important part of God's Kingdom.

If you have any questions please contact our Nursery Coordinator, Rachelle Kirkindoll or Pastor Terry Kirkindoll.

Crying Policy/Pager System
You will be assigned a pager when you check in your child. A nursery worker will page you if your child has been crying for more than 10 minutes, if your child becomes ill, or if your child has been injured.

Sick Baby Policy
We would like to keep all our children as healthy as possible, so please do not put your child in the nursery if they have any of the following symptoms: He/she has had a fever during the past 24 hours.He/she has diarrhea.He/she has a cold that is less than four days old.He/she has a heavy nasal discharge.He/she is fussy, cranky, or extremely tired.He/she has symptoms of a possible communicable disease (i.e.: head lice)

Injury Policy
In the event that your child is injured, you will be immediately notified. If it is a minor instance (i.e.: hitting) and your child is not hurt, and "ouch report" will be filled out and you will be notified when you pick up your child. If an infant is biting, hitting, or hurting other infants on a continual basis, the parent will be asked to keep their child out of the nursery until the behavior has been changed.

No Title - Life Groups

THE GATHERED CHURCH AND SMALL GROUPS
Acts 2:46-47 "And day by day continuing with one mind in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they were taking their meals together with gladness and sincerity of heart, praising God, and having favor with all the people. The Lord was adding to their number day by day those who were being saved."

The two-sided coin, the gathered church in the temple, the building of community house to house, seems ordained by God in the earliest outpouring of the spirit to be the effective means to handle the daily increase of new converts and make them friends, disciples and witnesses.

Life Groups are the place where intimacy is built, covenant friendships are enhanced and neighborhoods are evangelized. As GCC continues to grow in membership, it is essential that every member become part of a Life Group as well as attend the Sunday celebration services. This is the most crucial step to take in order to move from being a "face in the crowd" to "a part of the family."

Within Life Groups at GCC, you will find these elements of care and encouragement available in a personal and hands-on way:

•Nurture/Support
•Counsel/Accountability
•Interactive Learning/Equipping
•Relationship/Fun
...and of course eating!

Each Life Group is under the care and leadership of trained, equipped and released men and women who have demonstrated the Shepherd's heart and love for people (1 Peter 5:2-4). For a current list of Life Groups, please check your Sunday Morning bulletin or call the church office at 661-323-4162.

If anyone has a prophetic word or song to contribute to the congregation, the GCC protocol is that you write down your prophetic word, testimony or song and give it to an usher. An usher will then give it to the appropriate people. Cooperation with this procedure for the sake of order and maximum edification is greatly appreciated. (1 Cor 14:26-33)

Unless indicated otherwise by a pastor or guest speaker, Pastors and Prayer Team Members are the only people who should be praying for those that have gone forward to the altar. A badge that gives their name and states that they are a pastor or a member of the GCC Prayer Team designates them. If you are interested in being on the Prayer Team, training is offered on a regular basis. Please call the church office (323-4162) and ask for Cindy Belcher.

The Shindig is a non-profit organization that meets every Monday night and Thursday night at 6pm to enjoy skateboarding, free food, and live music. Every Thursday night at 6pm we have free tutoring for any kids who need help; you earn skate stuff for going to tutoring. At the Shindig we believe that everyone has potential to do something great in this world. We want to be here to push people into their destiny. For more information please contact the Director of Student Ministries, Mark Lamas or call at 661-323-4162 ext. 18.

Here at The Shindig we believe that there is a better way to live life. We follow the teachings of Jesus and have found that it has only brought us closer to what life truly can be. God is the source of all life, apart from him life is lost.

We feel that the Church is not a building, but a movement of people wanting to see change. Here at The Shindig we are aiming to build skateboarders into disciples to spread the gospel across the world. We know that Jesus loves skaters and wants to see the skateboard community redeemed. The Shindig could be a starting point for this movement and we would love to see the skateboard community of Bakersfield fall in love with Jesus.

We hope and pray to see change in the community of Bakersfield, Ca. We believe that our city is in the stages of change going from a city full of violence to a city of peace, from a city of greed to a city of sharing, from a city of selfish desires to a city of servitude and grace. Please continue to support/help and push us towards reaching our destiny as well. SERVICE AND SHOW TIMES

The Gathered Church - Sunday at The Garden

The Gathered Church is the place where the momentum and impact of united hearts and vision is fully experienced. We purpose gatherings of united celebration to worship our Lord, to learn from his Word, and to minister His love, grace and power to each other. We place a priority in our gatherings upon extending a loving invitation to those who need to establish or renew their faith in the gospel of Jesus Christ. We worship God through giving of our tithes and offerings. We remember our Lord's death, abiding presence, and soon return through the celebration of the Lord's Supper together. We celebrate the public confession of faith through baptism in water. We testify to God's goodness, share upcoming opportunities and dedicate the new lives given to the families of our church. Ministries to our children and youth also take place in this context of united purpose and resources.

When we gather, we encourage each other through prophetic words and pray for one another for healing, strength and resources in areas of need, encouraging both New Testament freedom and order.

We desire to excel in showing hospitality to all who visit our church family, and aim to provide clear information regarding our purposes, approach and plans that assists people in making an informed commitment to join our family.

Missions: Where Will We Go Next? - Missions

Jesus instructed us to go and make disciples of "all nations." At GCC, we believe that God has given us a mandate to send two thousand missionaries into the world harvest field. Building on persistent prayer and the showing of compassion, our purpose is that evangelism and discipleship will have its eventual result in church planting.

While many will be called to make long-term missions commitment, many others will be used by the Lord in short-term missions. Whether your call is for long-term or short-term participation, the Lord is putting together teams of men, women, young people and children to fulfill the mandate He has given GCC.

If this is the passion of your heart, contact Pastor Rob Allison at the church office at 661-323-4162 and join us as we give ourselves to the harvesting of new believers around the globe.

Mission Statement - GSSM

GSSM Core Values Our first priority is ministry to the Lord in extravagant worship and adoration. We celebrate creativity and value artistic expressions of all forms in our praise and worship to our King. Because of the redemptive work of Christ of the cross, believers are no longer identified as "sinners" but as transformed "saints." Every believer has been freed from sin, sickness, condemnation, and every lie of the enemy. Our identity is "child of God" and therefore heirs to the fullness of His kingdom through Christ Jesus our Lord. We value a revival culture where honor and servant hood are at the forefront of our pursuits. We desire to see integrity and the fruit of the Spirit developed and cherished and Christ's love and character become our highest aim and the foundation of which lasting change and eternal fruit may be manifested. We recognize that this love constrains us and empowers us to love the Body of Christ universal and to pursue the unity of the Spirit, as well as to love those who are without Christ in the world and reveal the unconditional love of Christ for salvation, healing, deliverance. We believe that every believer is a supernatural minister of the Gospel. Our testimony and witness is one of power in the Holy Spirit through signs and wonders and of declaration to the life-giving truths of our God through a lifestyle of prophetic revelation. We are to be naturally supernatural. We believe that all believers are to be "houses of prayer," designed to be intercessors equipped with the ministry of reconciliation. Prayer is our lifeline and the key to accessing the Kingdom of Heaven. Our first priority in prayer is to develop and maintain an intimate and passionate relationship with our Father through Jesus Christ, and secondly, to take our place as "kings and priests" and to stand in the gap for our families, friends, neighbors, and the nations. We believe that the fervent, effective prayer of the righteous avails much.
